The Horatio Alger Association is seeking students that display integrity and perseverance in overcoming adversity, and plan to pursue higher education. Students must have financial need and a determination to turn their adversity into opportunity and pursue their American Dream.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
Be enrolled full time as a high school junior in the United States
Exhibit a strong commitment to pursue and complete a bachelorās degree at an accredited non-profit public or private institution in the United States (students may start their studies at a two-year institution and then transfer to a four-year institution)
Demonstrate financial need ($65,000 or lower household income)
Be involved in co-curricular and community service activities
Display integrity and perseverance in overcoming adversity
Maintain a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.0; and
Be a United States citizen
New cell phone policy begins for grades 7th-12th tomorrow January 7, 2024.

Sophomores can now qualify for BigFutureĀ® Scholarships! They can begin earning entries by starting their career list and starting their college list on BigFuture. BigFuture will continue to award a total of two $40,000 scholarships and hundreds of $500 scholarships every month. The Oklahoma Schools Insurance Group (OSIG) scholarship application is now open at www.osig.org. The deadline is March 3, 2025.

Applications for the Plumbers and Pipefitters Apprenticeship Program are available ta 5315 S. Shartel Ave., Oklahoma City from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday and Friday between 9 a.m. and 12 noon. Interested persons must be 18 years old prior to being accepted into the program and be a high school graduate or have a GED. Transcript or GED scores must be provided.
Senior parents mark your calendars! There will be a meeting on January 22 at 5:30 PM to assist parents in preparing their student's FAFSA at the high school main building. Representatives from High Plains Career Tech will be on hand to help you meet the graduation requirement for this year's seniors. You should bring your 2023 tax return and have an FSA ID created at least 72 hours prior at fafsa.gov. If you do not have the FSA ID, you will not be able to complete your FAFSA that evening. Any parent who does not wish for their student to complete a FAFSA, will need to complete a waiver which you may obtain from Mrs. Hopper. Any Oklahoma's Promise student is required to complete the FAFSA.

The FAFSA is now open! It is a state graduation requirement for students in Oklahoma this year going forward. If you need a waiver form, please see Mrs. Hopper. Completion of the FAFSA is highly recommended throughout higher education and is a requirement for all Oklahoma's Promise students.

Woodward County Oklahoma Home Community Education Organization is offering a $1,000 scholarship to graduating seniors due in the OSU Extension Office by March 3, 2025. See Mrs. Hopper for applications.
Students in grades 5-12 attended an assembly today with Makayla McGee of the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics. She spoke to the students on the dangers of drug abuse, vaping, social media and human trafficking.
